‘A Monster Calls’ by Patrick Ness

a_monster_calls

A Monster Calls is about a boy called Conor who has the same nightmare every night since his mum became ill. The nightmares are about a monster that comes walking from a nearby yew tree and the monster tells Conor three tales. The fourth tale will be about Conor.

Conor is having a difficult time with these nightmares but he has other worries. His mum’s treatments are not working and she’ll have to go back into hospital. Conor will have to go and live with his grandma who he finds very irritating.

Conor doesn’t understand why the monster comes walking every night but he soon learns why.

I thought this book was exceptionally good and gripping. I would highly recommend this book.
