Book Bingo is a reading challenge that is suitable for the WHOLE SCHOOL, as you decide which books you will read based on the challenges in the grid. The rules and grid are below. Everything will be available in the library so drop in if you want to pick up the sheet and get going! As we have all read Infinite Sky over Reading Week, one box can automatically be filled by everyone!. If there are any questions COMMENT BELOW or drop into the library πŸ€“βœŒ

How it works

  • There are sixteen boxes in the grid
  • Each one describes a different type of book
  • The aim is to read as many of the different types of books that you can, write the title in the relevant box, and have it signed by Ms. Lundon
  • Aim to complete the boxes in lines (vertically, diagonally, or horizontally)
  • If you complete at least one line or more you will receive a certificate and prize at the end of the year
  • The more you complete the better the certificate and prize!
  • Only one box may be filled per book read
  • For example, this years β€˜One School One Book’ selection, Infinite Sky, could be placed in either β€˜a novel that deals with bullying’, β€˜a novel about being an outsider’, but only one of those boxes of your choosing.
  • You have until the end of the school year to complete as many boxes as you can (May 2017)
  • Certificates are as follows:

1 Line – Bronze Cert

2 lines – Silver Cert

4 lines (whole grid) – Gold Cert

There is a list of recommendations for each type of book in the library and in the ‘Reading Lists’ section of the website here

Good Luck and Happy Reading!! πŸ˜Š

We have THE BEST President πŸ˜β€

I absolutely had to share this here. Our President Michael D. Higgins is the most wonderful person. Just read this letter that he wrote to a young girl who loves reading πŸ“šβ€βœŒ

“books are windows to many worlds, both real and imaginary, and the benefits, and joys too, of reading will last a lifetime. People who read books will not just have the experiences of their own lives, but are also to take into themselves the feelings, actions and wisdom of many others.”

“All of the Presidents you have read about will have tried, in their own way, to make this world a better place. I hope that you and all your friends will, too, keep faith in the power of each and every one of us to make a difference, working together to build a better, just and sustainable world.”
