Senior Book Club December Edition πŸŽ„β„β˜ƒοΈπŸ“š

Our newly formed Senior Book Club met for the second time since the initial meeting in November. They discussed their chosen November title which was The Hypnotist by Laurence Anholt. It went down pretty well all round! This month the title they have chosen is Tangleweed and Brine by the wonderful Deirdre Sullivan. This book recently won an Irish Book Award in the YA category. πŸ‘Œβ

Blurb from Amazon:

A collection of thirteen dark, feminist retellings of traditional fairytales from one of Ireland’s leading writers for young people. In the tradition of Angela Carter, stories such as Cinderella and Rumpelstiltskin are given a witchy makeover, not for the faint-hearted. Intricately illustrated with black and white line drawings, in the style of Aubrey Beardsley, by a new Irish illustrator.

Blurb form Goodreads:

Tangled tales of earth, salty tales of water

Bewitched retellings of thirteen classic fairy-tales with brave and resilient heroines. Tales of blood and intrigue, betrayal and enchantment from a leading Irish YA author.

With 13 stunning black and white illustrations by new Irish illustrator Karen Vaughan.

Senior Book Club will meet to discuss this book and choose another one in mid January. Other Seniors who wish to join then are more than welcome!πŸ€—
