Firstlife by Gena Showalter

firstlife

Tenley Lockwood has spent more than a year locked away in Prynne Asylum. The reason she is there is because she refuses to sign her Secondlife to Myriad like her parents want her to. Most of the world sees Firstlife as a trial run. Before Firstdeath you must choose Myriad or Troika. People must sign up to be able to go to Troika or Myriad after they die whereas the Unsigned go to The Land of Many Ends. Troika and Myriad are sworn enemies and both want Ten on their side. However Ten is Unsigned and both realms send a Laborer to convince Ten to choose one of the realms. When she escapes the asylum her life is in danger as someone tries to force her to choose a realm.

Ten is a very strong character. She manages to survive the harshest conditions and still has hope. All the challenges she faces make her stronger and wiser.

I liked the main character and enjoyed a unique read.
I would definitely recommend this book

Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout πŸ™ˆ

image

One night Samantha and her best friend Cassie disappeared. When Sam wakes up in the middle of nowhere, she has no idea what happened to her that night. She first thinks that have no memory of that night is a blessing. Then she realizes that someone else knows the truth of what occurred that night and that her life might be in danger, all she wants is to regain her memory of the night’s events.

β€˜Don’t Look Back’ deals with complex family relationships and the lengths people will go to for money and status.

I really enjoyed this novel because of the mystery and characters. β€˜Don’t Look Back’ is gripping story that explores human flaws.

Here is her winning book review:

Book: Stargirl 🌟🚺

Author: Jerry Spinelli

607412-_uy200_

This book is told from the point of view of Leo, a shy, quiet boy who lives in Arizona. When the mysterious Stargirl moves to Leo’s school Leo is befuddled and intrigued by Stargirl’s floor length pioneer dresses, bright and wide eyes and stand-out actions. Most people just think she’s crazy but Leo thinks there is more to Stargirl than what meets the eye. When Leo falls for Stargirl everybody thinks he shouldn’t and Leo thinks what everyone else thinks is important whereas Stargirl doesn’t care in the slightest. Desperate to fit in, Leo pressures Stargirl to be the very thing that will destroy her. Normal. So she becomes β€˜normal.’ Stargirl no longer wears pioneer dresses. She wears jeans. Stargirl now wears make-up. She joins the cheer-leading squad. Stargirl stops dropping pennies on the pavement to make someone’s day. She stops singing to people on their birthday. Then Stargirl disappears. She’s gone. Forever. Leo then has to adjust to life without the love of his life.
This is an incredibly moving, outstanding and brave book about daring to be different, about not caring what other people think and BEING YOURSELF. It is a book that will stay in your mind long after you read it. A book that changed my mind about what people think of me.

Julie Traynor P1 on Wonder by R.J. Palacio

wonder_cover_art

Wonder is a fantastic book that canΒ changeΒ minds and hearts. The book is about a young boy named August who has a deformed face. In the novel we see different sides to the story. Via, Augusts sister, is always by his side and stands up for him whenever she can. But when she and August start school they’re both thrown in to new complications. At first August is an outcast the “weird” kid in school, but he quickly makes friends with a young girl named summer, and a boy called Jack. Who stick by his side against the stares, the rumours and the name calling.Β The book has its ups and it’s downsΒ but by the time you are finished you see the world differently and you see people differently. This book teaches us compassion, understanding and of course, that it is good to poke fun at yourself sometimes.

I give this book 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

a_monster_calls

This book is a fantastic and heartbreaking story about a boy who has nightmares every night ever since his mother fell ill, and the treatments don’t seem to be working. But then he meets a monster in his dreams who tells him stories, and the monster wants the most dangerous thing of all, it wants the truth.Β  This book will break your heart once you read it.

I give this book five stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

GrΓ‘inne Butler C2 on The lord of the Flies by William Golding

f86a60c28e03f475b7e6ea74f4ac0f10

This book is amazing, it’s about how boys land on a island and have to try and survive without adults. How will they get food? How will they stay warm? I could not believe at the end how the boys could turn into savages and it shocked me how the boys acted towards each other. I really loved the book. I would give it five stars

Mia Kenny P2 on The Outsiders

32946-_uy200_

This book is about the main character Ponyboy, who tells us the difference between the Socs and the Greasers. The Socs have advantages in society like education, money and a stable home.Β  I like the characters in The Outsiders, the one I like most is Darry because heΒ doesn’tΒ just of himself. He has given up college and works two jobs to keep the family together. this shows he is a very caring person.
